Description
N-Pyrrolidino etonitazene (etonitazepyne) is a novel high strength synthetic opioid with structural similarities to etonitazene, a synthetic opioid that is restricted both domestically and globally. N-Pyrrolidino etonitazene is structurally distinct from other synthetic opioids commonly identified in forensic cases (e.g., fentanyl). N-pyrrolidino etonitazene, unlike the 2-benzylbenzimidazole counterparts that were originally synthesized and described in the literature in the 1950s (e.g., metonitazene, isotonitazene), does not exist in prior literature or patents. Current in vitro pharmacological results indicate that this novel opioid has potency comparable to etonitazene (it is 20 times more powerful than fentanyl).
